Sleep? What's that?

Originally, I planned on my first post being about my weightgain/loss, my weigh-in and my journey thus far. However, the last few days I have been so out of focus, due to lack of sleep. So much so, I wrote a poem about it. Wanna read it? Here it goes!

Days Like This

Days Like this
I wish that
On the previous night
Sleep & I...
Sleep & I could have been
Good buddies
I mean BFFL's
Best Friends For Life
As a matter of fact

On days like this
I really wish
I mean... I really, really wish
we could carry on
some kind of hot and steamy love affair
We'd walk hand & hand
towards a bed, a couch, the floor
Hell,
I'd sit on Sleep's lap in a bar stool
just to get some rest

On days like this
I wish
We'd be playfully entertwined
into each others arms
And his soft carresses
would coax me into drowsiness
Or Sleep would pass out
passionate kisses
that would knock me off my feet
and leave me comatose

On days like this
I feel like Sleep
is acting funny with me
Honestly,
I don't even think Sleep
even knows who I am
when he comes by
he glides right on by me
and into the kids rooms
and is all up in their beds
What kinda foolishness is that?
Right by me
Like I don't exist
Like I don't need...
Sleep

On days like this
I am convinced
that Sleep is really a joker
Because
sleep doesn't come at night
when it should
Oh No!
It shows up at the oddest times
Like when I'm speeding down 35W going South
or when I'm at work at my desk
Or when I have plans
to finally have those few drink with the girls
Or during family night
while watching movies or playing games
with my boys
Or even
In broad day light
while standing in a park
Sleep has a weird since of humor
And I can laugh with the best of them
But today is no joking matter

On days like this
I'm groggy
I'm cranky
I'm emotional
I don't know my left from my right
my up from my down
I'm quick to snap
and slow to respond
I can't count and I can't read
I can't carry on
a sensible conversation
Nor can I focus on anything longer
than 3.5 seconds

So, please, you guys and gals
when Sleep comes by to visit you tonight
and I know he will
Tell him
I miss him
I want him
and I NEED him
back in my bed

Because
 on days like this
It's so obvious
that last night
was a Sleep-less night

I don't think people understand how much sleep is needed to stay healthy, happy and sane. Yes, I said sane.  Lack of sleep will make you feel like you're losing your mind. And that is where I'm at today.

Every little thing is now a major issue and drama. "OMG! I dropped my keys!" #Tears. Really? I'm crying about dropping keys now?!?!?!  You just can't focus and/or get it together. You can't think and you're emotional as heck. People will think you are nuts and you will feel unbalanced.

When I'm not sleeping, I can't do my workouts, because my body is nonfunctioning. I don't even eat very healthy because i'm too tired to prepare something.  This has got to stop! Quickly! This lack of sleep is not making the New Happy & Healthy Me feel so happy or healthy.

So, tonight, I have a plan. On a Friday no doubt. After my 20 minute workout and some good stretching, i will take a long hot bath to relax my muscles. While I soak in my lavender bubblebath by candlelight, I will sip on a cup of sleepy time camomile/orange tea to some mellow music while reading a book. This used to work for me back in the day. And I pray it works today, because I can't go another day without proper sleep. ~ KB
